I have decided to use Eclipse as my IDE since it has major focus in the open source world, I already know it some from Java days and it now supports C++ code development. On the Mac your are pretty much forced to use Xcode but on Linux and Windows Eclipse it is!

Notes on using Eclipse with C++:

Eclipse is plug-in based so naturally there is a plugin for C++ (CDT Tools). I am using Gentoo Linux distribution.

Notes on using Eclipse on Gentoo:

Notes on using Eclipse with CDT Tools:

Using CDT Tools:

After Gentoo is finished emerging everything, beside being an hour or so older, you should be able to launch eclipse.
