These frequencies can either be paired (Repeater) or not paired (Simplex). Each ship uses a different PL
(private line) tone so that they do not interfere with each other.
FAMILY RADIO SERVICE
Some of the passengers use Family Radio Service portables to keep in touch with each
other on the cruise ships. The following frequencies are used by low power unlicensed
personal radios (walkie talkies).
