SPACE SHUTTLE & ROCKET LAUNCH FREQUENCIES

Updated 02/10/05

Most PAFB and CCAFS VHF frequencies are no longer in use as well as some of the KSC VHF frequencies. They are all switching over to the new Motorola Astro SmartZone Digital 400 MHz Trunked Systems.
See Brevard County Military Trunked Systems for more information.

                             lightning within thirty minutes.
Phase II Lightning Warning: Issued when lightning is imminent or observed within the five
nautical mile boundary of all or a specific area of PAFB, KSC

NOTES
- Some of the above VHF frequencies are no longer in use as users switch over to the new 400 MHz Motorola
Astro SmartZone Digital Trunked Systems. All of PAFB and most CCAFS comms are now on this system.
- 148.4850 (CCAFB Net G) is the best frequency to monitor for both Space Shuttle and rocket
launches. It relays the launch status and the countdown to the Universal Camera Sites (UCS) along the east coast.
It also broadcast the landing status for the Space Shuttle.
- Some CCAFB, KSC & PAFB Security Police, Fire Rescue and Ambulance units are equipped with
Brevard County 800 MHz System portable radios.
- The airspace for all three bases is controlled by Daytona Approach / Departure Control
  North 134.95 / 239.335
  South 132.65 / 281.425
