Setting up a lpd print on a Solaris 8 host

First start the print scheduler on this host:

# /usr/lib/lp/lpsched
Print services started.

Add your printer name to /etc/hosts

# echo "167.208.170.253  1159X3090HC" >> /etc/hosts

Register the printer

# lpsystem -t bsd 1159X3090HC
"1159X3090HC" has been added.

Now create the printer queue

# lpadmin -p 1159X3090HC -s 1159X3090HC

Check the status and test

# lpstat -p 1159X3090HC
printer 1159X3090HC faulted printing 1159X3090HC-0. enabled since Jun 05 16:45 2003. available.
        printer needs attention
